2018 Château Vieux Taillefer "Pavillon de Taillefer" Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Bordeaux, France

ABOUT THIS WINE

This wine represents 90% of the production. It is a 100% Merlot, from the terroirs of of Vignonet, Saint-Sulpice de Faleyrens and Saint-Emilion.

It is the Classic Cuvée of the property and what is, according to Catherine and Philippe Cohen, the definition of Bordeaux’s right bank Merlot. It is a wine for aging but can however be tasted from a very early age.

It is a real ‘Classique’ of the Saint-Emilion appellation.

Organic farming, certified by ECOCERT, no fertilizer or weed killer. The fruit is exclusively manually harvested. Vinification involves destemming, cold pre-fermentation, natural alcoholic fermentation, without use of yeasts. Aged in French oak barrels at light heating. Production 25,000 bottles per year.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCER

This stunning representation of a Grand Cru Saint-Emilion was created by Catherine Cohen, who interned with the legendary Jean-Claude Berrouet at Château Petrus. Jean-Claude immediately recognized her talents and installed Catherine at the famous La Fleur Petrus where she made the wines from 1995 to 2001. Catherine and her husband Phillippe purchased the Estate in 2006 after it was personally recommended by Jean-Claude. This Estate is now clearly on a positive trajectory and this is one journey that you don’t want to miss.
